2. Legal Basis and Scope

This privacy policy applies to users in the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA), and Finland, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Finnish Data Protection Act. We also provide additional rights for residents of California, USA, under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as set out in Section 9 below.

3. Personal Data We Process

We process only the data necessary for providing and improving our service:

• Account data: email address, display name (if provided)
• Usage data: app usage, preferences, calendar, notes, health settings, and similar data you store in the app
• Technical data: device type, IP address (where required for security or legal compliance)

Data stored in the app (e.g. calendar, notes, health settings) is used solely to improve your experience. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Purposes and Legal Grounds (GDPR)

We process personal data on the following legal grounds:

• Contract performance: to provide the mAImate service
• Legitimate interests: to improve the service, security, and analytics
• Consent: where we explicitly ask for and you give consent (e.g. optional features)

We retain data only as long as necessary for the purposes above or as required by law. You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 7).

We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption for data in transit and at rest, and access controls. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Under the GDPR and Finnish law, you have the right to:

We use only necessary cookies on www.maimate.app for the site to function. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies for third-party marketing.

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you additional rights:

• Right to know: You may request to know what personal information we have collected.
• Right to delete: You may request deletion of your personal information.
• Right to opt-out of sale: We do not sell personal information; therefore, no opt-out is required.
• Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.

10. Data Transfers

Where we use service providers outside the EU/EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g. standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions) are in place.
